Winds Of Plague posted new song

-=DEAD IN EXISTENCE=-

Wing of plague posted new song on their profile from the upcoming album. Shit is heavy! Listen to it here.

Here's what they're saying about it:

WINDS OF PLAGUE return with the much anticipated new full-length release, The Great Stone War. A concept record and their most epic and unrelenting offering to date, this album is going to quickly propel the band to the forefront of the American metal scene.

The Great Stone War is the product of a band maturing greatly and coming into their own throughout two years of unrelenting worldwide touring. This new album also marks the recording debut of drummer Art Cruz and keyboardist Kristen Randall adding a whole new layer of dynamics to the band’s already devastating arsenal of metallic fury and angst. The disc was recorded once again with Daniel Castleman (As I Lay Dying, A Love Ends Suicide) and mixed by the legendary Tue Madsen (Himsa, The Haunted). This offering could be best described as the soundtrack to Armageddon with each track becoming extremely epic in scope. WINDS OF PLAGUE encompasses a juxtaposition of Scandinavian black metal, classic American metal and overall brutality, which will have them reign supreme among their peers.

Throwdown on the new album

Here's what they got to say about it:

"OK, we've got some rough Deathless tracks in our hands... and I'm sorry that I can't play them for you yet cus holy shit am I stoked on these songs. If you follow us on Twitter, you probably read that shameless self-promotion isn't really my strong point, but I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of this album and it isn't even mixed yet. At the risk of sounding parental, I can't begin to express how proud I am of Mark for the songs he wrote for Deathless. Mind blowing how some of them came together when all was said and done.

"Thanks to the insanely flattering initial review from our close friends that we've played these songs for including Mental, Kirk and our friends in Demon Hunter/Invisible Creature Studios. Seriously left me speechless! Can't wait for Ryan to start working on this album art... wouldn't be a Throwdown record without him packaging it! If things come together for the concept we've been talking about, you guys are in for something special. Don't wanna jinx anything, though!"

Cheyenne

"Well, the band's provenance came from wanting to fuse heavy, down-tuned music with aggressive hip-hop vocals. So, yeah, that was the idea from the onset. It's definitely something that's evolved as time has gone on, though. Our idea of what the band 'should' sound like has changed dramatically and, in contemplating this, we've had fun experimenting with a diversity of styles."

Can you introduce yourselves for our readers and let us know where you are from?
Absolutely. My name's Josh and I play bass. Spencer is on drums; Brian, guitar; and A'dje and Chris handle vocals.

So you guys are in the studio right now. How is recording your new album going? How do you guys work through the process?
We are, yes. Things are going well so far. It's funny being in the studio again though, because our first EP, Doom Prophets, only very recently came out (after being delayed forever). Everyone can grab it through Big Cartel. Right now though, we're transitioning from scratch tracking guitars to getting some actual parts tracked. We're recording to a click for the first time, so it took a little getting used to in the beginning--we've got the hang of it now, though. As far as the actual process, we'd normally start with drums, then move on to guitars, then bass, etc. We ended up needing to get our drums tuned though, which forced us to improvise a little and do guitars first. But it will have been worth it--the professional tuning will make the drums sound amazing.

Describe the sound of your new record? How does it differ from you previous recordings?
The new record is going to be much heavier (how cliche, right?) in parts, but also much more melodic. The song writing is much more complex than it's been in the past; we made a deliberate attempt to move away from linear a, b, c, d-esque formulas into more calculated, more structured, more self-referential writing. Basically, we tried to avoid just stringing a series of riffs together with breakdowns. How well we succeeded at this, I'm not sure, but I'm very pleased with the results.

Can you tell a bit about the lyrics of the new songs and which themes you have touched this time?
Materialism is something we want to touch on in some of the newer music.

Your music runs from hardcore to death metal including rapping vocals and tons of other stuff in between. Did the band always just merge musical styles into a song? What are some key elements and influences that have shaped the band over the years?
Well, the band's provenance came from wanting to fuse heavy, down-tuned music with aggressive hip-hop vocals. So, yeah, that was the idea from the onset. It's definitely something that's evolved as time has gone on, though. Our idea of what the band 'should' sound like has changed dramatically and, in contemplating this, we've had fun experimenting with a diversity of styles.

Your first EP features guest appearances from Jonathan Huber of I Declare War. How did he come into the recording process?
Well, the guys in I Declare War have been great friends of ours since day one. We've played more shows with them than with any other band, hands down, and they're some of our favorite people in the world. They've helped us countless times in countless situations and we certainly owe a lot to them, and to Jon in particular. He's been to more of our shows than probably anyone else. Also, their old guitarist, Jake, recorded our Doom Prophets EP, so it only seemed natural to have Jon come out with him to do vocals on a track. It was a very fun experience and I wouldn't be too surprised if he ended up on the upcoming release as well!

What immediately stood out to me when listening to "doom prophets" is how meaningful the lyrics are. What is your main inspiration when writing?
Basically all of our songs have some sort of underlying social or political theme. This one happened to be about different people's conceptions of what religion is and what it should (or shouldn't) be used to justify. I don't know if there's any real rhyme or rhythm to which subject matters make it into our songs and which don't; really, if something strikes enough of a chord within any of us that we want to express it through song--whether it's something we read, experienced, or whatever--then we will. For us, our music is an emotional and artistic outlet. We aren't preachers, but if something's important to us, there's a good chance we'll write about it.

How did you get interested in Native Americans struggle and what would you like more people to know about it?
I don't know that it's something we got interested in so much as it's something we thought deserved attention. Everyone is familiar with the Native American genocide in at least a basic sense. The problem, though, is that a lot of people don't realize (or care to realize) how enduring the United States' institutionalized mistreatment of native peoples has been. I don't want to dwell on this topic for too long, but in essence, we want to combat the notion that 'all of that stuff' is done with and in the past; it's not, and it's unfortunate.

I read a quote from one of you saying “as American citizens, our rights are in the process of being legislated away by those who claim to hold our best interests at heart.”. Can you expand on that further and how do you feel things changed in this matter since Barack Obama is president?
Yes. I think most people are familiar with things like the Patriot and Military Commissions Acts of the Bush years. For those who aren't, a quick recap: The former was passed after the 9/11 attacks in an effort to expand 'anti-terror' measures and the government's ability to spy on Americans. The contention, of course, is that it's for our safety; that by allowing the government to conduct [otherwise] illegal wiretaps, to access personal bank records, etc, 'another 9/11' can be averted. The validity of this argument and others can be debated ad nauseam, but I think most people can figure out where we stand on the issue. The latter is most noteworthy for the fact that it rescinds Habeas Corpus rights (access to a fair, timely trial-by-jury, to legal representation, etc), a constitutional right, to anyone the government deems an "unlawful enemy combatant." As we're beginning to discover more and more as a nation, this sort of legislation paved the way for myriad constitutional violations both at home and abroad. Unfortunately, contrary to a lot of Obama's campaign promises, nothing has changed since he's assumed office. He's actually signed new, similar-such legislation into place (see: telecom wiretapping), which is very disheartening to those of us who voted for him (note: some in the band did; others didn't).

Care to give us some insight into what inspired the “THE DREAM IS NOT DEAD” lyrics? Is racism still a major issue in USA even though most of the population voted for the black president?
I don't think that our having collectively elected a black president (who is actually bi-racial; half of European decent, half of African decent) speaks to anything other than our progress as a country--and certainly, there has been progress. What does progress imply, though, other than the fact that there's still progress to be made? Unfortunately, discrimination will never go away. There will always be racism, sexism, homophobia, etc in this world, and our opinion is that these things need to be opposed ideologically and categorically.

Are there any radical traditions/movements do you take inspiration from?
You know, that's a tough question to answer. I think that different members of the band would answer the question differently because we all have a variety of things we feel passionately about. I, for one, am passionate about animal rights. Some in the band share this passion and other don't. That's the way it goes, though.

What websites would you recommend as a good source of information for all the kids who want to reach deeper then the official media?
I think that the best news comes from a diversity of sources. To limit yourself to a handful of 'indy' or 'underground' news sources is just as limiting, just as narrow-minded and misleading as prescribing only to mainstream news. I get a lot of my information through NPR, though. To me, public radio has a pretty solid track record.

What should kids expect from Cheyenne in the future?
New tunes, which are being tracked right behind me as I type this! Things are sounding great so far, so people should get stoked for that. Also, people should be stoked that our long-delayed EP, Doom Prophets, is finally available. We will have it for sale at shows, but kids can also buy it online through the label that's putting it out, Clandestine Project. Check it out here: http://clandestinehc.bigcartel.com/

Thanx for the interview! Any last shout outs?
Thanks for caring enough to want to interview us! It's been fun! Seattle!! What's up!!!!

Anchor - Captivity Songs

Anchor - Captivity Songs
Refoundation 2007

Melody, anger and intensity go hand in hand in a natural way as the band do their brand of hardcore which kind of remind me of the 90’ new school/sxe stuff. If you like bands like Refused, Unbroken or Trial there’s a big chance you will feel Anchor too.

The vocals are angry and passionate and the guitars are full of life and vitality. The songs are aggressive and intense, but still pretty varied. It definitely adds a lot of colour to the soundscape. The stand out on the album must be the tension building Captivity. Not only the lyrics are great, but musically it really kicks ass. Anchor is a band with a message so lyrics are the important part of the package. The band speaks on the current ills of society including drugs and alcohol abuse, animal killing, religion and ignorance of the masses. They do get preachy at times and I don’t agree with all they say, but the lyrics and the explanations are nice written and definitely make you think. The bottom line is, I’ve never really been a fan of this type of hardcore, so they never really manage to excite me to the extent that I'd stay focused or be ecstatic, but I wouldn’t say I didn’t enjoy it either. It’s a solid release and if you like a bands with a strong message, you should def give it a try.

Still Proud Clothing

Still Proud Clothing is an upcoming brand which should appeal to both hardcore and hip hop kids. So far, the designs are amazing! The guys who run it have been around for some time so you know that when buying their stuff you're supporting the scene not some new jacks trying to cash in on hardcore.

So first of all, what inspired you to start your brand?
I was motivated to start Still Proud Clothing after some years of involvement in the hardcore scene. I’ve been in bands, booked shows and also ran a music section for my college newspaper when I was in school. Clothing seemed like the next logical move as I like the fact that it has the power to convey such a powerful message and I also felt that I could bring something different to the table with SP.

How do you think your designs stand out amongst the plethora of other hardcore brands?
While there are many clothing companies out right now, I don’t think that many of them have as wide approach as Still Proud. Most are geared towards certain niches ( straightedge, posi, etc.) whereas with SP, I’m aiming for the hardcore and hip-hop scene as a whole. Our designs are merely observations of the different walks of life within our scene.

Who creates the designs for the shirts?
I (Gavin) come up with the concepts and have a graphic designer with Mammoth Graphics translate them into the designs you see on the shirts.

Is there a theme to Still Proud Clothing, such as SxE or hardcore, or you’re open to various ideas?
Still Proud will always be a brand rooted in the Hardcore and Independent Hip-Hop community but that does not mean it’s exclusively for those individuals. I decided to go with the name Still Proud because pride is very much a strong attribute in these genres and regardless of your cause (god-free, posi, christian, straightedge etc.), it is something that everyone can relate to. I put out clothing for individuals who are strong willed and passionate about their beliefs no matter where those fall. With the first release, I was looking to make a bold statement and based upon the responses so far, I think I’ve made a mark. There will always be people who disagree and I’m not expecting everyone to catch on but those that support us get what we are aiming for and for that I’m very grateful.

Can you give us the meaning behind Keep Metal Out tee?
First off, I will say that it’s all a matter of personal preference that we can argue all day long and thus you will either love it or hate it. When I first got into hardcore, metal was starting to really saturate the music and take it away from its punk foundation and I know that there are many people tired of this, which is why we put this design out. Obviously, metal has made its mark and is not going anywhere, but for those that want to make a statement for the latter, have now got an outlet to do so. That’s not to say there are no bands out there past or present that merge the two well, but overall I’m sure we can find some common understanding that hardcore has changed which metal (among other things) appears to have more than a hand in.

What is your personal favorite tshirt design (done by you) and why?
My personal favorite design would be the FCK Fighting shirt. Fighting at shows is always a problem and having been a promoter and lost many venues to it, I wanted to create something to convey my feelings on the matter. It also has a broader appeal and can be wore in just about any setting which is why I wanted to release it and based upon that observation, has shown to be one of our best sellers.

What are some of the bands you are working with and what was the reason to choose them?
We currently have three sponsored artists: Outerspace (PA), Knock Em Dead (FL) and Thick As Blood (FL). I decided to sponsor these three because besides being fans of their music, I know that they are hardworking individuals that mesh well with what we are trying to do. I’ve personally known Knock Em Dead and Thick As Blood over the years and have watched them grow to the level that they are currently at and Outerspace drew me in because of their awesome sound and appeal. The artists I sponsor don’t need to be exclusively hardcore but as long as they embody that sentiment , have a hard work ethic and are pushing the envelope , I’m likely to work with them.

What has been the hardest part of this business? The best?
The hardest part about running a clothing company is the amount of time it takes to market the designs. I literally spend hours online through the various social media applications (Myspace, Facebook, Twitter) spreading the word about SP, but being unemployed at the moment has allowed me to get it off the ground. The best part is certainly running your own business and interacting with like minded individuals on a day to day basis. This music has been an integral part of my life for some years and being able to give something back and see people’s positive reactions, in itself is rewarding. So far, the companies started off on the right foot with various orders coming in from around the world (including a recent purchase of 18 shirts to Japan) and of course support from the U.S has been solid and is gaining ground regardless of the grim economy we’re all facing.

Are you sticking with shirts only or will you expand?
I have a lot of plans to expand the line to other articles of clothing such as hats, sweatshirts, b-ball shorts in addition to better quality fabrics but first and foremost I need the help of our community to get there.

What else can we expect from Still Proud Clothing in the future?
You can expect to see SP everywhere as we are just getting started. I’m planning to work with bands across the globe and even have some design ideas in the works with certain organizations that I think many in this scene will appreciate. In the meantime, please visit our store and pick up some t’s: http://stillproudclothing.bigcartel.com/. Every order comes with a custom SP hangtag sticker and I’ve also partnered up with some awesome record labels (Thinkfast, Rhyme Sayers, Significant, Caboose (Japan) and Deathwish) which have given me some rad extras for my orders. Also note that we ship WORLDWIDE!

Scalping Screen

Scalping Screen started off in late 2001 as a four-piece band, wanting to create something loud and fast. The band's musical influences came from heavy metal and hardcore punk. The band also has soaked up influences that aren't entirely musical, but make up an important part of what it means to be Scalping Screen. You can hear pure metallic rage in the songs, but there is also an unbridled fury that comes from hardcore. The lyrics deal with loyalty, racism, idiocy and personal demons in life. The themes are mostly nihilistic and miserable, so if you wanna get a positive kick, forget it baby.

Can you introduce yourselves for our readers and let us know where you are from?
Yep! We are Scalping Screen from a small town called Joensuu located in eastern Finland. Band started in 2001 with Heikki (drums), Mika (voice), Pekka (bass) and me Jani (guitar) with no important goal in mind, just have fun and play hard music. In 2005 we got our friend Risto for second guitarist. We want to expand our sound and Risto was already "inside man", so that's the lineup since. Now we have own record company nd things are more focused and "serious". But still, band really exist for fun.

What do you want people to know about Scalping Screen and your music or message that they may not know?
Well, music is simple mix of trash, death and hardcore. Heikki and I have both roots in early 90's death metal scene, so maybe our sound is inheritance (or burden) from those times. Back then we trade and listen shitty democasettes..hah. Times are very different nowadays instead late 80's and early 90's. Google it, twitter, shitter or twatter or whatever spunksuckin' shit. We never really got into this internet talkshow knowhow whoring. About us, we state anything special, but theres some rare points in Mika's message in lyrics that we all can sign. Be straight, learn from your mistakes, be aware what is going on and believe in yourself. We have done this from day 1 with no changes or second thoughts and that is the way it's going to stay. We love to do
gigs, have fun and play hard music.

In my opinion, the new album Twelve Out Of Chamber is amazing. It's a powerful blend of all the best in hardcore and metal. How do you feel about the album when itąs finally out? Did it turn out the way you wanted?
Yes. It's best that we could do at this point and we are very pleased and proud for result. It was the same thing in last two records. Theres going on some positive progress as individuals and musicians...or players if you like. We have so much death metal in our veins, that our music can be too heavy for hardcore kid or some songs can be too punk for real deal metalheads. People got their own opinions and that matters.

How was it recording your new album? How do you guys work through the process?
Recordings made up in few days, mixing take couple and mastering some. Propably whole process were completed in one week. Studio is managed by our friend, so that was pretty easy going time. He was also a producer of our debut album in 2002. Unfortunately release for Twelve.. delayed for personal reasons in 2008. But now record is out and hopefully people buy it and enjoy it.

I've noticed that you're inspired by both metal and hardcore bands. What are your main inspiration? Which genres, bands and albums have meant a lot to you during the shaping of Scalping Screen as a band?
Lot to mention but these at least: Kreator, Exhorder, Obituary, Madball, Sodom, Entombed, Turmoil, Dismemeber, Dark Angel, Blasphemy, Stamping Ground, Mayhem, Bolt Thrower, Bolt, Down My Throat, Blood For Blood, Subzero, Skarhead, Venom, Buried Alive, Slayer, Downset etc. Also some oi bands, psycho, punk rock and hardcore punk bands have influenced us like Adrenalin O.D, Bonkers, Black Flag, Necromantix, FC Five, Tiger Army, Discharge, GBH, Exploited, Cro-Mags, Skrewdriver and so on. Those groups have attitude and drive that you cant download or buy anywhere. It's good to have skills as a player, but if you listen some of those groups, you can hear that they are not professional musicians, but at stage they can rumble you down with their hate, energy and passion anytime.

As young boys we were into Finnish hardcore punk bands like Terveet Kädet, Terveyskeskus, Maho Neitsyt, Tampere SS and others. We simply grew up listening old school black metal, death metal, trash metal and hardcore punkrock, anything that sound rough. Then we got into New York style bands like Sick Of It All and Madball and their early releases. Just Look Around and Set It Off are the classics. Agnostic Front, Warzone and Crumbsuckers were already known but we were more into heavy new school stuff. These days, personally i got no problem to listen whatever music if it sounds good. I like Pink Floyd and King Crimson which are far away from genres i grew up with.

When you write music, where do you find your inspiration?
Basically from life. Fit in or you are a victim of modern inquisition. Inspiration: nihilism, hate, violence, friends (and "friends" too), beer, fucked relationships...it's easy when you get in the right mood. In fact, Heikki forces me with his drumming to make killer riffs..hah! Seriously, we'we been playing so long together that we know every step and click what other got in mind. So we feed each other inspiration and songs came out pretty easily.

What kind of themes do you tackle lyrically on Twelve Out Of Chamber?
Experiences in life, friendship, loyalty and religions. Hate to "lovers", "love" to haters. Even songs are miserable and nihilistic, theres some positive points behind the lines. Real words from raises and failures, mistrat and injustice. There is no politics- right or left, no scene jesus wannabe bullshit (even it's true that they exist), no straight edge tempering, no humanistic artficial asswad commentary or other art crap.

What's the scene like out there in Finland at the moment? Are there a lot of newer bands we should keep our eyes out for?
Hardcore scene is very strong in the small country of ours, though. Helsinki and Lahti boys should be proud for a reason of what they have created. I think Finnish bands differ a lot from european or worldwide hardcore bands with their sound and style. If i have to review Finnish bands, grooving NY style with melodies could be close. Bands sound very metallic and trashy. Of course lyrics and legacy fills that intensity for a good. You should check out Full House Records and Combat Rock Industry records and hook up with their new releases. Bands i would recommend are Bolt, Cutdown, Worth The Pain, Breamgod & St.Hood. They are the heavyweights in the scene. Here is some very good metal bands too like Sotajumala, Torture Killer and Deathbound, you should check them too.

You guys said you're a type of live band and I imagine the song from Twelve Out Of Chamber must sound powerful when performed live. So what is your formula for a great performance?
Keep moving and play tight. Well it is impossible sometimes, especially after few beers. But if people have good time it affects directly to us and all playing came up easily.

What's your favorite kind of crowd? It seems Scalping Screen is able to attract both metal heads and hardcore kids.
Been in both. When we have played with metal bands, people are more interested about your skills, and stand still listening. In hardcore shows people looking out what's all about and if we can tap the vein, they make a move. We love to play shows anywhere and kick out the jams.

So how did your Japan tour came out? What was the biggest difference you noticed when playing there compared to Europe?
Former record company manager Edwin Lau (GodsChildMusic) arrange a tour for us. Even he was from Hong Kong, he got a lot of Japanese contacts. He got already arranged 100 Demons, Deadsoil, Arkangel, L'esprit Du Clan and others from overseas in there. So it was quite easy. With the shows, it depends on place. There were smaller clubs full packed and crowd was sick.
But playing in the middle of the week was as lame as play here at club in monday at 0500 pm. Main difference was that people were very well mannered and humble. But when local bands kick out their set, it was a total blow off at stage and in a crowd.

What was it about hardcore and metal that attracted you to this music and lifestyle?
In hardcore it's the style, rough gigs, aggression, intensity and brotherhood as i could express it. In metal it's the heavy soundscape. On the other hand, being in is about getting away anything that reminds us proper society whores. Basically what it's all about is getting along people who share same ideas and habits. When you grow up, you find out that you have infected or blessed by your surroundings thru years.

How do you look upon the Internet and music, free mp3s, filesharing etc…? Is it a chance for a promotion or rather a threat to a bands like yours?
I dont care if someone upload or download our records for free. I think it's rather a good promotion than losing income. But if you going to make money from it, we want our share or you will need a crutches for a long time....hehheh. Seriously, making record and promotion by yourself is not free and that is the point what some assholes never get when they bloodsucking you and your music.

Any last words or something that you like to add to this interview?
Thank you for this interview! Buy our records directly from us or go Interpunk distro. New album should be soon available around europe by our distributor. Check out updates! www.scalpingscreen.net

The Guilt Show - Before They Know We're All Dead

The Guilt Show - Before They All Know We're Dead
Refoundation 2009

Power, power and power once again! That what Guilt Show have to present is for me a quintessence of Hardcore. Their album "Before they all know wre're dead" kick my ass every time it lands in my player.

Combination of modern hardcore with quick oldshool riffs, choirs and really great lyrics is just an explosive speech! CD that showed up in spring of this year, released by Italian Refoundation Records, also dispatched by German Defiant Hearts Records. Six tracks from The Guilt Show proves that Italian stage keeps really great. There is no place for compromise. It's strong material with no peace of weakness. Only one thing that bothers me is the length of the tracks, their averge is 2 minuts. The Guilt Show is one of those bands which will mix up on the hardcore stage not once in the future. To sum up: "Before they all know wre're dead" is a really solid pice of music which will be defenitly appreciated by audience.

How do you define your overall style?
Hardcore punk

What’s your goal with this band?
Record some CDs, play awesome shows, tour a little, make as many friends as possible

What do you have recorded so far?
3 Demos, only 2 were released

How did you all meet and how long have you all been a band?
Almost 3 years, we all met through mutual friends and the internet

Coming from San Francisco, did the local music scene have an influence on you?
I listened to alot of Allegiance and Lights Out and people say we sound like those bands, so i guess so haha

Do you think that because of the strong hippie movement, San Francisco hardcore scene is in any way different from the rest of Cali and USA hardcore scene?
The hippie movement died 30 years ago now its just a bunch of assholes

What are other bands from your area kids should give a listen?
DONT TRIP, Caulfield, internal conflict, grace alley, skin like iron, punch, ordstro, flat out, swank
What is the message you're trying to send with your music? Pay attention to the world around you or it will bleed you dry

You guys got a lot of old school sound in your music, so I wonder how do you feel about the hardcore nowadays? I’m talking about metalcore, deathcore etc.
That shit sucks, all those genres just cause division and breeds elitist attitudes

What can we expect in the future from the Unchained? Is there an album coming soon?
Yes, keep an eye out!

The band was created in the middle of autumn 2008, when few friends bought guitars, there was no way back... The months of continuous rehearsals begin since then. All of us never played before, so we studied by playing cover songs of our favourite bands. The name "STRIKE EACH OTHER" was taken from the same titles song of group Screamin Silence. First show in May 2009, a week before was recorded 5 demo tracks. Lyrics in English.

Alone - Kiss Dreams Goodbye

Alone - Kiss Dreams Goodbye
Refoundation 2008

The tree words could be used to define Alone. Those words are taste, heart and honesty.

Italians are keeping up really great which they affirm on the Kiss Dreams Goodbye cd published in February '08 by Refoundation Records. Material from this album is full of energy, oldshool songs localized somewere between Chain Of Strength and Outspoken. Those five tracks, because that many of them are on this EP, really keeps the high level. Straight but powerfull riffs composed with gaudy vocals makes our foots want to bounce. The lirycs are really good too. Big plus for Italians!

Built on Respect has been a mantra for alt-culture personality heidiminx for years. It graced the hang tags of her fashion line, Franky & Minx, and continues to be her driving mission, "Treating people with respect, and sewing the seeds of fairness creates solidarity"

It was with this attitude that Minx did volunteer work in Haiti, and more recently, twice this past year in Dharamsala, India.

On her first visit, Minx volunteered in two communities; she helped oversee the development of an online store that taught computer and English skills to her rural students, which ultimately saved the school from closing. In addition, she worked in the Tibetan community, teaching English to refugees at the Hope Center, a fledgling community organization.

Upon her return to the US, Minx began to explore charitable initiatives. The human rights violations she heard from her students spurned a desire to return, and to leverage and share her business contacts, her award-winning marketing skills, her DIY approach, and the support of her influential musician friends to gain awareness. Built on Respect has a fiscal sponsor for its 501 (c3) status.

On her second trip, Minx worked solely within the Tibetan community for three months. She continued to support the Hope Center, working with board members on marketing and sustainability. She also worked with Jamtse in Action, a fledgling group that supports the elders at the Jampaling elders home and The Institute for Tibetan Thangka Art; a free school that keeps traditional Tibetan art alive. In addition, she worked with two local artists to help develop their non-profits, met frequently with NGOs to discuss marketing and development, and also sponsored English classes for the monks of Ganden Monastery, all while teaching English and participating in conversation classes.

In addition, Minx worked to educate youth worldwide. She secured interviews with HH the 17th Karmapa, the head of Students for A Free Tibet, the president of the Tibetan National Women’s Association, the director of the Federation for a Democratic China, and also took footage of the political and social events occurring in the village at that time. Her continuing theme in these interviews was youth in action.

It is Minx's goal to embrace the DIY mentality, and to personally work to raise funds, and also to directly oversee their disbursement while documenting it, working side by side with different community organizations.

Run With The Hunted - Everything Familiar

Run With The Hunted - Everything Familiar
Refoundation 2009

Before listening to Run With The Hunted’s Everything Familiar album I wasn't really sure what to expect, but after the first couple of songs I was definitely paying close attention. At first glance, Run With The Hunted appears as nothing more than another band doing the hardcore/metal crossover. However, the more I listen to this CD, the more it’s becoming apparent to me that there’s more to this record.

The band was started in late 2006 in Phoenix, Arizona and after two albums released by American labels, they decided it’s time to give European kids the chance to hear what they got to say. Everything Familiar was released by hard working folks from Refoundation Records and comprises all the stuff recorded by the band and previously released only in USA. What you can expect is politically and socially driven hardcore with lots of tempo changes, metallic riffing and vocals ranging from spoken words to scream to typical hardcore shouting. The album can be divided into two parts showcasing the band in their first recordings dating back to 2007, and their most recent stuff recorded in 2008 and released as a 4 track ep on Glory Kids Records. While their earlier work is a typical, nothing above average new school hardcore with a strong metal touch to it, the newest song are more complex and aggressive and overall better. The band is doing a great job creating a sound that incorporates both hardcore and metal with some punk touch from time to time. The band shows its highest potential when they get aggressive and metal, while the “I hate myself” emo parts that rears up from time to time are totally not cool. Luckily, the weak parts are few and far between. I think the greatest thing about this band is their energy displayed in high powered, fast paced parts of the album and they should stick to it.
If you’re an avid Hope Conspiracy, Indecision or Shai Hulud fan, this is something you need to pick up. With lots of skills in the music and a solid production, Run With The Hunted provides you with a powerful album.

Dead Kings debut album in stores July 17

Dead Kings were formed late in the Summer of 2007 in the nations capital spawning from reputable parents, violent sweethearts 4 Dead and metal titans Infinitum. Fresh and full of inspiration the budding young band managed to release a well received demo and tour the better half of Australia holding their own performing with heavy weights like Parkway Drive, The Ghost Inside, The Red Shore, Verse , Carpathian, Comeback Kid and even playing their first show opening for Bring Me The Horizon and I Killed The Prom Queen.

Now sitting on the brink of maturity Dead Kings are about to unleash their debut self titled album. Dead Kings deliver ample weights of crushing heaviness and complex melody and as Cameron Chambers of Killyourstereo.com says “A lot of acts talk up their blend of melody and aggression but these guys have done a cracking job at incorporating both elements without sounding watered down or generic”.

Dead Kings are a musical dam about to break and flood Australia with their own complex structure of technical progressive metalcore with the potential to rival some of Australia's best bands in the genre.

For fans of Misery Signals, Between The Buried And Me & Parkway Drive, check them out on their Australian launch tour this July.

Unbrekable posted new song

Unbrekable, sXe hardcore from Belgium, posted new tunes on their myspace profile. Check it out if you're a fan of bands like Turning Point, Youth Of Today, Judge or Gorilla Biscuits.

"(...)As some of you might have noticed, we uploaded a brandnew demosong to our Myspace-player. We recorded it a few weeks back at Joris Sub ('sup!) studio, just to provide you all with a little appetizer of the new songs we've written so far. We're just a few lyrics, riffs and solo's away from completing the writingprocess of our new EP so keep an eye on this space. We're hoping to return to the studio somewhere after the summer and melt these new tracks into a worthy follow-up of our first 7". Please let us know what you think....

In the meanwhile, we have some brandnew shirts for you guys (and girls). Expect them around the middle of August, right on time for the two awesome shows we have lined up so far. On August 12th, we'll be crossing the North Sea to play a show in Canterbury (UK) and a few weeks later - on August 28th to be exact - we'll be opening up for one of our all-time favorite bands : Earth Crisis. They'll be on the road for the Hell On Earth-tour, along with Sworn Enemy, Neaera, War Of Ages and a few others. Needless to say, we're very psyched to be a part of that show. We might not be the heaviest band on that bill, but we'll play as if our lives are depending on it and hopefully turn some heads while doing that. Come and check us out, if you get the chance!!!

Also, if you don't have tickets for MoshValley-fest (24-25/07) yet, make sure you get them ASAP @ www.myspace.com/moshvalleyfest We're not playing, but tons of amazing other bands are! Stoked for Blade, Death Is Not Glamorous, Wait In Vain, Balance, Anchor, xRepresentx, No Turning Back, Deal With It, The Setup, Shipwreck AD, True Colors, Rise And Fall and Have Heart. For a complete line-up & more info, check the link above. Weekend tickets are just 16 euro. Don't miss out on the coolest summerfest hardcore has to offer this year.

That's about it for now. Check out the new Blade 7", which just came out this weekend. And surf over to Seventh Dagger's Myspace (www.myspace.com/seventhdagger) every once in a while. These guys have supported Unbreakable a lot these past few months, it would be nice if everyone who's reading this blog, would return the favour and opened their ears & minds to their incredible roster of bands."

Grave Mistake Records news

Official news:

It's been a long time coming, but all five new releases are now available in the webstore (and sooner or later in your favorite distro). Here is what's available now:

GRAVE032 - WASTED TIME "FUTILITY" 12" - RED VINYL
GRAVE033 - LOGIC PROBLEM "NO CENTER" 7" - RED VINYL
GRAVE034 - THE LADIES - S/T 7"
GRAVE035 - GOVERNMENT WARNING - PARANOID MESS 12" - CLEAR VINYL
GRAVE036 - GOVERNMENT WARNING - EXECUTED 7" - RED/WHITE MIX VINYL

There are some left over NO WAY FEST / RECORD RELEASE versions of the GOVERNMENT WARNING and WASTED TIME records, but when they are gone, they're gone. There are also some leftover limited sleeves for THE LADIES 7" from the "ROMANTIC GETAWAY" Fest in Cleveland a few months back. And of course, colored vinyl is available for these new releases (except for all but THE LADIES 7")

I also added over 100 7"s, 12"s, and zines to the webstore ... a lot of new stuff, some brand new releases and some that have been out for several months but this can be a good chance for you to pick up anything you've missed.

The artwork and a brand new song off upcoming Locked In's EP Among Sharks.

Original message from the Hurry Up Records:

We are very happy to finally show the artwork of the 7” and a brand new song off AMONG SHARKS, the new 4 track studio EP LOCKED IN recorded last February and that finally has been mastered.

The song is called DEVOTION and features Josh from To Kill!

We are pretty stoked on how the band evolved and could compose something tight and intense like these new tracks, knowing that the fans of Walk The Plank will for sure be into AMONG SHARKS like kids new to the Italian band but into SICK OF IT ALL or COMEBACK KID!

The release date and the details on the record are yet to be defined, since TO KILL “MAELSTROM” 7” is being sent to the plant this week, for a summer release date.

Bottom Feeder

Name: BOTTOM FEEDER

Location: Houston, Texas

Active since: winter 07

How do you define your overall style?
Dark metallic sound with n.y. and clevo influence

What’s your goal with this band?
To get hooked up with a label and eventually have a u.s. tour.

What do you have recorded so far?
Just the demo so far. We will be in the studio again this summer hopefully layin down new stuff.

How did you guys meet together and what was the reason to start a band?
All of us have always been in and out of bands and once all of them fell through, we started to talk about starting up a dark Clevo type band. A lot of the OG hard hitters around the Houston Scene (Will To Live, Pride Kills) started to die out and we are trying to bring something new to texas.

On your demo the music bear a lot of influences from the 90’ heavy music scene with a strong dark feeling to it - is that route you are trying to go?
yes!

Things you have been through in your personal life are reflected in your lyrics and I guess that to fully understand them one has to go through a bunch of shit themselves. Is there any massage you would like to convey to the kids out there feeling down and out or it’s more like a stress release for you?
Writing the lyrics help me release my inner past, growing up in broken households you see alot of fucked up shit that you cant do anything about. the majority of us can relate to these lyric one way or another

Break down the Texas hardcore for me a little bit. In your opinion what’s interesting going on over there?
Iron Age's new record "The Sleeping Eye" just dropped and it's fucking amazing. Bitter End is holding it down, and writing a new LP.
A new band out of Houston, The Burden, just got together and are bringing a different sound (this band rules!!). Power Trip is busting out and are about to put out a new lp on double or nothing (this band also rules!)

As your main influences you name bands from the 90’ so I wonder what do you think about what’s happening in hardcore and metal scene nowadays?
A lot of older bands are starting to tour and play the bigger hardcore fests. which is very fucking awesome. All hail the Cro-Mags.

You guys shared stage with variety of bands, some of them being big names In hardcore. What was the best gig so far and what bands are the coolest to play with?
Our favorite show so far to play was a last mintue show with product of waste, power trip, and on my side. The local venue was packed with kids flying around doing flips and singing along. The best bands to play with are the Texas locals. (r.i.p. Lie and Wait & Die Young.)

What are Bottom Feeder plans for the future?
Write new crazy material that will melt minds

Anything else you would like to add?
DANCE HARD OR DIE & smoke til you choke
