The Last Stand Interview

Everyone following the NYC hardcore scene should be familiar with this band. Featuring former members of Inhuman and Shutdown, The Last Stand brings all the elements that make up the classic NYHC sound, whether you’re into kick-boxing or singing along. Their debut full-length The Time Is Now is probably one of the best albums of this style that I’ve heard recently and I encourage everyone to check it out. Here’s an interview I did with Michael, who does the vocals for the band.

The Last Stand - The Time Is Now

This is the shit right here. Dudes from Inhuman and Shutdown are back with new band and it rips. Armed with Mike’s distinct voice and group of guys who obviously know how to play hardcore, there’s enough talent and dedication here to make everyone excited. No surprisingly, there’s definitely a classic NYHC vibe here and the band definitely nailed down the anger and intensity of the genre. Perhaps, a good mixture of Built To Last’s vitality and Start Today’s positive vibe, with a dose of Age of Quarrel’s aggressive tone is a good way of summing up this album. It’s catchy, upbeat, and perfectly blends punk rock with hardcore to bring back the street element of the music.

The Last Stand to release 'The Time Is Now'

The upcoming album by New York’s The Last Stand entitled 'The Time Is Now' will be out via Eulogy Records in January. Guest appearances on the album include Lou Koller (Sick of It All), Joseph James (Agnostic Front), and Dave Franklin (Vision). The Last Stand is a band made of ex-members of Shutdown (Dion DeNardo-bass, Stephen Della Croce- guitar, Jimmy McCormack-drums) and Mike Scondotto of Inhuman fame. The band has recently released new song - Unleashed - as a teaser for the new album.

The Last Stand to drop debut album

New York hardcore has an undeniable past, present and future within the ranks of all of the members of The Last Stand. The Brooklyn-based band features Mike Scondotto of the long-running Inhuman on vocals, along with Dion De Nardo on bass, Stephen Della Croce on guitar and Jimmy McCormack on drums, all members of the band Shutdown, who spent most of their recording career on Victory Records.

The Last Stand to drop 7" on 1124 Records

NYHC band The Last Stand, with the members from Shutdown and Inhuman, will be releasing a five song 7″ on 1124 Records in January. The band recently put together a limited edition demo CD with four songs – it’s unclear right now if the 7″ will be all new material or if it will include the demo.
