Video: Knuckledust - Humanity's Nightmare

Knuckledust is back at it again giving us an injection of pure, unfiltered hardcore with some heavy thoughts on today's politics and how democracy is shit cause most people are idiots. This is one of the hardest tracks on their recent album but you gotta blast this shit loud as fuck to get the desired effect.

Video: Cold Hard Truth - TruthGetta

I wasn't aware Cold Hard Truth were active again but it turns out the new album Truthgetta is dropping on FWH Recs as we speak. Back in the days I was very much into Reflect The Conflict, but I got mixed feelings about this new track. They used to be more Shattered Realm than Nasty, but somehow this old school beatdown groove is gone and they moved toward something way more modern. The whole album is posted on their bandcamp and I can easily name tracks that are better than the title one, like Violence Is The Answer - the shortest one but most tight. On the other hand, there are tracks that are fast but don't really go nowhere and after their over I don't remember any of it. Best thing for you to do is to check it out yourself and make up your own opinion.

Review: Bun Dem Out - The Few The Deep

Finally I got my filthy hands on this gem. The album that was impossible to get by means other than break and enter is available for purchase legal way. The first print disappeared from the market which was fucked up. I think I’m not the only one feeling this cause dudes at Rucktion reissued this gem last year.

Musically, what can I say? Bun Dem Out is comfortably fitting in somewhere in my all-time top heavy hardcore from Europe. The music is tense and pretty uncompromising coming across like a combination of Knuckledust, Shattered Realm and Slayer. The band ape tight riffs and decent groove while Pelbu attacks his verses with brash and ignorant flow. This album never stays still and the way they put the songs together is creative but not overbearing. The style ranges from stripped down hardcore to death core, and there’s a little bit of other crazy influence that creep their way in there too. The highlights are Peruchos Tale and What? No Blaze. Weird but brutal stuff.

I hope this re-issue is just the tip of the iceberg as far as the next full length album in concerned.

Video: Knuckledust - Life Struggle

This video has a deep existential element to it which you might find interesting if you struggle with your inner demons. For those not interested in soul searching there are also some cool special effects when this dude is fighting his doppelganger and it's made so well you actually believe it. Top notch stuff. The track is banging, but this is Knuckledust so it should go without saying. Check out new album, Reclaiming The Crown (which is by the way the second GSR release by that title).

Video: Higher Power - Higher Power

Really dope track and video, I gotta check out more about this band.

Video: Knuckledust - Foundations

Taken from the Foundations Built From Blood 7" due out on GSR Music.

New Blood: Back Down

Back Down hails from Bristol and so far have a demo that dropped last year, which was then followed up by Against All Odds EP that came out earlier this year. They play hardcore that while fast and dynamic, stays on heavier side of things, not unlike Terror or Madball. If you like this style, there's much to love about that new ep. Check out the interview I did with Tom who does vocals for the band.

New demos that don't suck: Feeding Chain, Forced Order, Shrapnel

Feeding Chain's debut demo is called Public Execution. The band hails from UKHC scene with members of Ego Trip and Final Rage. This is some seriously raw and gritty hardcore driven by hatred and anger. Music for society's outcasts and lowlifes who don't give a fuck. Download

Forced Order is a new southern California hardcore band and this is their debut demo. Still fresh, it dropped just in recent weeks. The songs hit hard from start to finish, I am curious to learn more about this band but google search just shows their bandcamp, no website or fb page. Download

Shrapnel is another up and coming band from UK worth checking out. This is their debut demo that dropped in recent weeks. Download

Review: Bleak Reality - Burden Of Shame

Bleak Reality - Burden Of Shame
(Anger Battery Records) - Burden is a debut ep by this Nottingham,UK-based band. It came out at the beginning of 2013, but I never really had a time to review it. The band plays heavy and malicious hardcore with a hard-as-nails metallic twist. The UK scene has spawned out many great bands in recent times, but this one definitely stands out.

Set Astray - The Way of All

Thanks For Nothing records have launched pre-orders for Set Astray's 'The Way Of All'. You can order cd, cassette or t-shirt from here. The band plays blasting metallic hardcore so heavy that it's sick. Biohazard meets Integrity type of shit with some Merauder thrown in as well. Go to their bandcamp and check it out for yourself. Shout outs to Tight To The Nail blog for turning me on to this band.

Review: Knuckledust - Bluffs, Lies & Alibis

Knuckldedust has been steadily building a reputation as one of the most ferocious bands in Europe. The combination of credibility, obvious talent, and down to earth attitude which this bands represents allows hardcore kids to immediately connect with the music and the message. I am totally into their previous albums, but this new stuff is one of the best shit they ever recorded. With Bluffs, Lies & Alibis, Knuckledust has perfected the formula that has made the band one of my favorite hardcore acts for the past few years.

Video: Knuckledust at Outbreak Festival 2012

This video just was uploaded to youtube just couple of days ago. It's full set byKnuckledust at Outbreak festival which took place in Leeds in September 2012. The sound and image quality is awesome and you can expect tight performance by the band and solid karate action in the pit. Click here to check out other sets from Outbreak Fest, including Trial & Error, By My Hands, Inherit, Abolition, Final Rage, Your Move and more.

By My Hands - No Hope, No Escape 7"

If you’re into metallic hardcore than this is something to make your day a little bit less miserable. I remember I did like their previous album, Growing Older, Getting Colder, and with this short EP the band shows nothing but progress. The ep is short with only three tracks, but the content is so strong. The songs are even tighter and heavier than before, the music is very dynamic and there is no shortage of skills on display here. The overall style is rugged and both lyrics and music hit hard with pin point precision. If you like heavy approach to hardcore, this is your thing.

Knuckledust - Bluffs Lies Alibis

Great song, great video, great band! Knuckledust proves once again they're in the league of their own when it comes to that gritty ruff hardcore sound. New album Bluffs, Lies, Alibis is out on GSR Music!!!

Cast Iron Jaw - Bound By Ignorance

Cast Iron Jaw is a new band from the UK hardcore scene with a sound that doesn’t deviate much from the metallic beatdown style already done by number of bands, but that’s alright. The first track takes on slow-to-fast beatdown sound and the album gets progressively heavier as it evolves. Sometimes it’s slow and heavy with a pounding double-bass action, but there are moments when the band takes on a faster vibe.

A critical measure of how successful is an album of this kind is how much variety is in the tracks without drifting too far from the core sound. In other words, how well all the elements go together so the album can be enjoyable from start to finish without using any cheap tricks like shitty clean vocals or whack rapping parts. And we all know that some bands got no shame when it comes to mixing hardcore with this type of crap and the results are usually pathetic. In case of Cast Iron Jaw, the album isn’t void of missteps, but it delivers what you would expect from such record. The sound is hard, the songs are nicely put together and vocals sound like they wanna cause a serious damage to the listener.

While the production is not as beefy as it should, some of the parts here still sound heavy enough while others lack a bite. I also would also get rid of some of the unnecessary passages in the songs which doesn’t add anything and just make the songs sound less focused. Overall, while not as intense as Shattered Realm, whose influence can be heard in some of the slower parts of the album, Bound By Ignorance is well crafted and strong album. I hope for even better next one.
