Interview with Nikolay from Ugly & Proud Recs

My man Nikolay is a brain and muscle behind Ugly & Proud Recs, a young hardcore label based in Sofia, Bulgaria that has been putting out some quality records in recent years. Roster includes bands like Blade, Lose The Life, Can't Relate, Raw Justice, Die Young and much more. As you can see, 100% legit stuff that everyone into hard and uncompromising hardcore could appreciate. This type of entrepreneurship will always get respect and support on this blog, so I thought it would be cool to ask Nikolay couple of questions about the label - how it got started, how it works, and what is the biggest headache. I hope seing the insights behind what it means to run a DIY hardcore label is something you'll find interesting.

Die Young - Chosen Path 12" EP pre-orders up now!

Ugly and Proud Records will be releasing the European version of the upcoming LP by Die Young (Texas). This version will be on a one sided 12" EP (while the US version is on 7") with an etched B side (the famous Die Young clock/logo skull will be engraved on the whole B side). Sounds pretty dope! The track list might be also little bit different. Three different colors are planned, 500 units in total. You can pre-order the record here.

Vinyl of Can't Relate 2008 Demo coming soon

Ugly and Proud Records will release the 2008 demo of Can't Relate on vinyl. Here's some bio information about the band: "Can't Relate was a hardcore band formed in the Summer of 2007. They didn't have merch, social media or a demo recorded before their first show; in fact, they were probably the only hardcore band in Australia at the time. Between October 2007 and November 2008, they spent more time playing shows
and practicing then they did editing their myspace layout and promoting the band on the internet. The band was an outlet for everything wrong with hardcore and society at the time, and still is today. If you like Floorpunch, Right Brigade, Mental, Stop and Think, Chain of Strength or Carry On you will definitely dig this. These tracks were released by the band in 2008 and are now finally available on three colours of wax. Artwork is a collaboration between German graffiti-artist Jym and cartoonist Javi from Spain.
