Review: Only Attitude Counts - 20 Years Of Attitude

Only Attitude Counts - 20 Years Of Attitude
(WTF Records) - New album from these dudes is always a cause for celebration, especially when it bangs like this one. 20 years in the game is a good occasion to cook up something special and that’s what we get - double CD with new songs and couple of old ones redone. CD1 offers 10 tracks and for the most part all of this stuff is very ill. The premiere tunes kind of bridge the gap between the throwback sound of band’s early releases and the progress OAC made during the years.

New Cheech album in April!

New Cheech album will be out in April via WTF REcords! The record is called Beast From The East and will feature 17 tracks of the anti-social hardcore that the band is infamous for!

Olde York - Shallow World

Just like on previous album, these cats still stick to the classic sound that New York city is famous for and they do it just right. Shit is NYHC to the bone, but Olde York puts their own twist on it so it’s more about paying respect to genre tradition than copying other bands. The energy of these songs is incredible and each track has its own character and vibe. You can hear they feel at ease with what they’re doing cause everything flows together so smoothly.

Still Screaming - Stick At Nothing

Stick At Nothing is another release by Still Screaming, a band that I have been following for some time already and really dug their previous releases. The music on this mini album is still along the lines of the classic NYHC style and the band sounds pretty confident in this area. Think of classic Agnostic Front albums or European bands like Only Attitude Counts and you’ll get the idea what it is about. Nothing is forced, all the songs flow like they should with nice vibe and catchy hooks. It’s even better than their previous outputs, which were really decent already.

Olde York to release new album, Shallow World

The classic New York Hardcore sound is back with Olde York! 'Shallow World' is a follow-up to the Empire State (2009) and will bring NYHC back to it's roots. 11 tracks full of passion and aggression in the vein of Warzone, Sick Of It All and all the classics. Produced by Mike Dijan (Breakdown, Skarhead, Crown of Thornz), this new full length release displays a wide range of sounds and feels, rooted in the classic grit of New York. The album will be released by WTF Records.

Human Demise - Of Wicked Men and Their Devices

Being that it is band’s third album already, I had a clue what to expect but in reality the sheer aggression and energy that fills Of Wicked Man… just blew me away. If you love the way Cleveland’s style sounds, the menacing tone of Ringworm and the way One Life Crew delivers, you’re at home with this album. It is powerful and hits straight to the gut, bringing song after song of that vicious and dark atmosphere, all while making sure the music stays aggressive from start to finish.

There’s no radical departure from what they did on previous releases, but it is all presented in a more mature and condensed package. No-nonsense, every song hits hard. It’s hard to listen to this stuff without letting the adrenaline and aggressive urges go into effect. And don’t confuse it with that Holy Terror hype that has seem to be going on recently.

The album is filled with high points and its best when listened as a whole. With their stabs at Clevo-style Human Demise manages to hold their own and does not fall into any clichés. The raw and gritty hardcore that fills Of Wicked Men… from the start to finish matches quality of any other hyped album of 2012. Human Demise has made its mark with today’s hardcore audiences by making it sure listeners can always count on the band to deliver in terms of a quality.
