Phantoms

"Even though the lyrics seem dark, they are positive in a way too, its our way of saying, dont be constricted and told how to live your life, its too short to waste away by being someones slave."

Name: Phantoms

Location: Sydney, Australia

Active since: June, 2009

How do you define your overall style?

Life Of Agony - River Runs Red, Prone Mortal Form Intro Riff , and Madball.

What’s your goal with this band?

Want to release a full length and hang out i guess.

What do you have recorded so far?

We have a demo 5 tracks, it sounds pretty weird, but it does the job

When, how and why the band came to being?

We have all been in various sydney bands before, all which have recently broken up, so we thought we'd hang out and write some riffs.

How would you describe your bands personality?

Negative / Nice Guys. haha

It seems your demo is getting a really good response so far. Are you happy with how the things turned out and the reviews you’ve been getting so far?

The band had only jammed twice before we decided to record the demo, and the lyrics were written the night before, so everything was abit rushed. But yeah we are siked that a few people are digging it, apart from us.

The music is great and powerful but I also dig the lyrics. It’s not only well written, but it’s something I can relate to personally and probably the same goes for many kids reading this too. Before you write a song, where do you find inspiration? What's the first thing that comes to your mind?

Im always thinking about growing up, getting older, responsibility's and whats expected of me, so everything involved with growing up process is always on my mind.

The overall tone of the lyrics seems to be very dark and negative. Would you agree with that and is there any running message behind your music?

Even though the lyrics seem dark, they are positive in a way too, its our way of saying, dont be constricted and told how to live your life, its too short to waste away by being someones slave.

I was reading the lyrics for the Villains and it portrays Sydney as a rather not a nice place to be. So how is it growing up and living over there? Is it really so depressive?

Sydney is beautiful, but like every city, it has a side not seen on postcards, living here rules though, nice beaches , good xbox connections, and decent weather, from time to time it can be a weird place, race riots and abit of gang violence but we are really not affected by it

What is the craziest thing that ever happened at one of your shows?

Red Our guitarist playing in his underpants, he isnt a pretty boy either haha

What’s the scene like out there in Sydney at the moment?

The hardcore scene has its ups and downs here,Sydney is struggling a little bit at the moment. Bands like relentless & Shinto Katana have been holding it down for a while and a whole heap of new bands have just started up. Legions are deffinatly going to be a dope band as they get older.

What are some other future plans for Phantoms? When can we expect a full length album?

Full length feb, 12 tracks hopefully release a 7 inch some stage next year also

Shout outs and/or last comments?
