Video: Agnostic Front - Old New York

My understanding is that hipster fucked up New York for good. God damn. I don't know. I really don't know if I could hate these people even more.

Agnostic Front live footage from 1984

Here's a footage from 1984 of Agnostic Front playing in New Brunswick, NJ. It was fuckin' 30 years ago, this is the same year that Victim In Pain dropped. The video quality is rough, but enjoy the sheer rawness and unique energy of the legend's early years. The setlist is amazing, it even includes Crucified, and the crowd goes apeshit all the time.

Hardcore Lessons #1

Why should you go around bashing one another
If they look or think different, why let it bother
Everyones got their own style, their own thoughts
Don't let it bother you, don't let it get caught

Tracklist for Respect Your Roots comp revealed

Strength Records has posted the tracklist for the upcoming Respect Your Roots compilation. It has Agnostic Front covering Ramones, Terror covering Agnostic Front, No Turning Back playing Ready To Fight, Rancid with Someone's Gonna Die by Blitz and much more! Here's the official description of the album: "As a follow up of the very succesfull “Worldwide tribute to the real oi!” albums, Roger and Onno now compiled a sampler with the scene’s best bands around today going back to their roots and covering the songs of their youth. This time the bands were free to choose whatever song they wanted to cover and were not restricted to a genre or a style." The label has already started pre-orders for the CD, which you can find here.

In the works: Book on Agnostic Front '85 -' 86 era

Chris Bade is working on a book which chronicles Agnostic Front's Cause For Alarm Era '85 -' 86. Author interviewed over 50 key people for the book, including all surviving members of the band from 85/'86 era. According to official Facebook page of the project, it will follow "the band from its self-booked coast to coast tour in '85 to their signing with Combat Records to their national tour with GBH in '86 and everything that happened along the way. It will also get into the New York scene at the time, which was growing bigger by the month. Metal labels began snapping up more NYHC bands. headbangers began their cautious journeys to CBGB to see the crossover bands such as AF, Cro-mags, and Leeway, and the skins were going to venues like L'Amour to see the hardcore bands that the metal clubs began booking (and to fuck up some long-haired Metalheads). The crossover/metalcore style of Agnostic Front and bands such as D.R.I. Suicidal Tendencies, and Corrosion of Conformity spread throughout the country and was the dominant style in the realm of heavy music for the rest of the '80s." The list of people Chris has interviewed so far when researching for the book looks incredible. Go to the website for more info, I just add it includes Vinnie Stigma, Rob Kabula, Jimmy Colletti (AF drummer 84/85), Alex Kinon (guitarist on Cause For Alarm, former guitarist of the band Cause For Alarm)
Gordon Ancis (former NYC Mayhem guitarist and AF guitarist for ‘86 tour), Peter Steele, Sean Taggert (artist, creator of the cover of Cause For Alarm), Paul Bearer,
Scott Ian, Dan Lilker,Evan Seinfeld, Eddie Sutton, Tommy Rat, Wendy Eager (Guillotine Zine) and many more!

Bridge Nine Signs The Alligators (members of AF and Insted)bers)

[Official info] Four of some of hardcore’s most important names from both coasts got together to finally bring back that early 80′s hardcore sound; this sound is called The Alligators, and they will be releasing a new record on Bridge Nine in 2012. Featuring members Roger Miret (Agnostic Front), Rich Labbate (Insted), Steve Larson (Insted) and Barret Burt (Insted), The Alligators sound a bit like something that might’ve been filed in between Miret’s primary band, Agnostic Front’s, landmark albums United Blood and Victim In Pain and is undoubtedly an old school hardcore band. The Alligators wear their influences on their sleeve – tipping their hat to bands like SSD, Antidote, Negative Approach, Poison Idea, Scream and more. Vocalist Roger Miret commented, “The Alligators has been a fun side project i’ve been doing with the guys from Insted(California Hardcore band from the 80’s) – an odd fit you might think, but make no mistake: those guys are hard. Rich and I have been friends since the early 80’s and periodically talked about doing music together, so this is a record I’ve been meaning to do for a long time coming. With the addition of DYS and Antidote to B9 roster and the re-release of Agnostic Front’s ‘VIP/United Blood’, we are happy to add this to the Bridge Nine family.”

The Alligators’ debut full-length for Bridge Nine Records, titled Time’s Up, You’re Dead, is slated to hit stores on March 27th, 2012 and more information regarding album details, new song premieres and upcoming shows will surface soon.

New Agnostic Front 7inch Coming on March 8th from B9!

The Godfathers of New York Hardcore, AGNOSTIC FRONT, are gearing up to release their new full-length, My Life My Way, on March 22nd! The album features 13 new powerful and anthemic songs laid down by Erik Rutan (Madball, Goatwhore, Cannibal Corpse etc.) at his Mana Recording Studio in Tampa, FL under the watchful guide of producer Freddy Cricien of Madball. In preparation, they’ll release two songs to the masses on the That’s Life 7inch, which will be available March 8th from Bridge Nine Records.

On their third collaboration with the band and second time working together with a pre-release album 7inch, Bridge Nine Records couldn’t be more excited about the partnership. Label owner Chris Wrenn commented, “One of my most proud moments here at B9 was re-releasing the Victim In Pain and United Blood records from Agnostic Front in November ‘09. And to open the doors to do so, we worked with AF prior to that on a pre-release 7inch for their album Warriors on Nuclear Blast. It was awesome working with both the band and the label, so we figured – with a new full-length coming out - why not do it again?” The That’s Life 7inch will feature two songs from My Life My Way – “That’s Life” and “Us Against The World” – and will be extremely limited to 2,000 copies worldwide. 1,000 copies of the 7inch will have silk-screened B-sides, while the other 1,000 copies will have hand-etched B-Sides. More information and photos coming soon to Bridge9.com.

Vocalist Roger Miret commented on the new material: “After all is said and done we are amazed on how great our new record turned out! It’s by far our catchiest record to date and it’s going to make everyone want to sing along for sure. Freddy killed it on the production end, just capturing that hardcore vibe that only he can get out of AGNOSTIC FRONT. The boys all put nothing but passion into the songs, and Erik Rutan just dialed it all in to make AGNOSTIC FRONT sound as natural and as organic as ever. This one will definitely be a classic once it’s heard worldwide!”

Details on new Agnostic Front album

Official press release: The Godfathers of New York Hardcore, Agnostic Front, have revealed the cover art and track listing to their upcoming record entitled My Life My Way. Cover artwork was brought to life this time by artist Todd Hubber, who also works with vocalist Roger Miret on designing his street wear clothing line American Made Kustom.

"The concept was to capture the D.I.Y. ethic and crude themed artistry of the early punk flyers, with a nod to the era of crime and pulp comic themes of the early 50's. Society deemed those materials as having no social redeeming values, and as a contributor to youth delinquency. Similarly outcasted were punk and hardcore in the early day for its aggressive, anti-authority message, and dangerous aura. My Life My Way is a throwback to the early days, and Agnostic Front has proven that what society deems unredeeming, has been, still is, and will continue to be relevant."

My Life My Way track listing:

01. City Street
02. More Than a Memory
03. Us Against the World
04. My Life My Way
05. That's Life
06. Self Pride
07. Until the Day I Die
08. Now and Forever
09. The Sacrifice
10. A Mi Manera
11. Your Worst Enemy
12. Empty Dreams
13. Time Has Come
