Review: Crowd Deterrent - Show Of Supreme Force

Being a hardcore kid is like being a junkie in many ways. You get hooked up first time you hear Set It Off, Crime Ridden Society or Brightside and the rest of your life you just chase the same feeling. And sometimes you succeed. Crowd Deterrent for last couple of years has been the bomb and this lp combines their various shit since Show of Supreme Force ep came out in 2012. I didn’t need to sell my TV to get this record yet but I would if I had to. Somehow they do it better than anyone out there.

For those who don’t know, CR sound is Agnostic Front meets One Life Crew meets Blitz meets Sheer Terror and just every hardcore band in history that cultivated values such as hatred for fellow man and not-to-be-fucked-with attitude. And they put their own stamp on it with obnoxious antisocial vibe and gang mentality. Combined with technical skills that keeps their delivery sharp and effective you know we’re talking serious shit here. And the vocals are of beast kind, on tracks like Worldwie or Outcast Mentality he proves he has some serious vocal chops. The dude has been blessed with a perfect voice for this shit.

Show of Supreme Force ep are hands down the best of the batch. These tracks are fat to death, I don’t even have a favorite one, front to back this is top notch. This record is already in my top ten for the last decade. The title track is aggressive and raw, hitting you hard with tight groove and sharp riffs all bound together by the meanest vocals. "Life's on the line for you/ no matter what I do/ always stay down for the crew". Hard as nails! As for the Certain Death, I got no problem putting it next to Murdario Stomp easily. The Hated Ones tracks are solid as well, just see me wilding out in my living room to these tunes. The lyrics are the same, most of all a salute to sticking to your guns in world gone to shit. "I can’t handle all this stress / I’m a paranoid mess/ There’s no life left in these eyes/ Seeking shelter but there’s none to bo found /The only peace I’ll find when I’m six feet underground"

This lp gets my highest recommendation.

Hated Ones - the true outcasts of the hardcore scene
Hated Ones - always on our own and that's just fine with me

New Crowd Deterrent ep

Hated Ones is finally available for streaming and you know I always got time for Crown Deterrent music. The fact that there are only 3 songs in total is a let down, but at least each one rips. I already posted about the title track so I naturally I was mostly curious about the other ones. Cursed has a dope thrash vibe to it and is a definite heavy-hitter. Call your crew , not the cops is 100% hardcore/hardcore with spot on attitude detailing a complex code of honor, betrayals, respect, streets, jail, or worse. All in all, Crowd Deterrent went hard on this one

New music: Crowd Deterrent - Hated Ones

Finally, a worthy follow-up to Show Of Supreme Force comes as a two and half minutes of fury named Hated Ones. This is the shit I've been waiting for, a slamming joint that does not lack anything. The violent vocals on top of the hard as nails hardcore is what locks it down for me. I need hardcore bands to sound outcast and antisocial, making me want to do some illegal activity with their record in the background.

Can't wait to listen to the rest of that ep.

Silence Over Snitching Forever

Now Crowd Deterrent tracks are up on band's bandcamp. The sound quality is rough as fuck, but if you can get pass that you'll get two really tight tunes. Predator Or Pray is CR we all love, but the real deal is Sacred Order Sacred Flesh which brings bombed out grooves and a harsh dose of reality. Hardcore gang shouts collide with tight guitar work, and the vocals are menacing as always. I admit I wasn't into these tracks at first but more I listened to it more I felt it. Can't wait for whole Silence Over Snitching Forever Ep to drop.

Crowd Deterrent - Japan Tour 2012 Documentary

Watching recent Crowd Deterrent videos makes me think about how excited I was when I first heard Real Domain song by you know who. Everything about this style of hardcore is appealing. Crowd make some great tunes and have the ability to get their point across with great ease. They ain't taking no shit from anybody and play by their own rules. Musically, there’s always a hook to sing along with and easy-to-follow verses so I can just imagine the mayhem they cause during live shows. It's equally ignorant, provoking and violent, but they're also about staying true, respecting yourself and most of all, cheesy horror movies. This video is short documentary for band's Japan Tour 2012. Filmed by David Wilson. Produced by Downpour Creative and Crew Life. Get ignorant, bitches!
