Surge Of Fury - Boogiedown

Hip Hop Appreciation Post

I don't know man, but from what I've heard, this new album by Blaq & Primo isn't as good as Rewind (Deja Screw):

This song didn't make it to the Reality Rap album which is a shame cause it's one of the best they ever made:

Here's instrumental, where is your freestyle homie?

And I couldn't not post some real deal Warsaw hip hop:

I For Us Records news

Our very own DIE OUT! offer us 4 brand new songs of melodic punk-hardcore. The band is heading to a more aggressive and raw way. No need to say that these are the best songs they have written so far! A song is already available on the band's Myspace page.

WAY DOWN is a young band from Germany but they already developped a well matured sound. The 7 inch will feature 4 songs + a intro and a downloading code will be offered to get all tracks in digital format, including one bonus song! Their melodic hardcore will surely please fans of Have Heart or Verse! A first song in available on our player.

Expect a new song in the coming weeks!

And finally, in november will arrive the first EP from AT LEAST WE TRY. Expect agressive and intensive shit! The band has a few great gigs coming up (Dour Festival, shows with Madball), support them and come say hello after the show

Refuse Resist news

REFUSE RESIST was born in a garage just north of Boston with a goal to create music that they would want to listen to and sing along to. After two years of non-stop writing and playing shows with some of their main influences, they are doing just that. Inspired mainly by the straight-forward, in-your-face music that used to be called hardcore punk in the decade of the 1980's, REFUSE RESIST brings back that familiar sound with current lyrics and some new hooks.

How many of the best bands from past years have come from Wilkes Barre PA? Well heres another one. Gypsy features members of Cold World, Blacklisted, Bad Seed, and Let Down. Dont look for any mosh parts here though, this is more in the vain of Jawbreaker, Seaweed, Dinosaur Jr, and Knapsack. Melodic hardcore with a rough edge to it. This is Gypsy's debut release and is a 2 song single. The track "Me Against The World" is up right now on the SFU myspace. But if you go to SFU website you can hear an extra demo track "Sleep Well"

xThe Warx - Confront

xThe Warx - Confront
Seventh Dagger / Dogfight 2009

Through the hard work and dedication xThe Warx have established themselves as one of the leading bands in Australian scene. I’ve been following those guys since the split CD with xThe Wrathx and it’s good to see those guys getting better and better with every release.

When it comes to both music and lyrics, they work really hard to be remembered as a band that doesn’t compromise for nothing and know how to hold their own. The level of aggression displayed on this mini album is unbelievable. What I like about it is even though they take a lot of influences from new school metallic hardcore, they don't forget to pay tribute to the roots of their music. What you can expect is fast but heavy hardcore with catchy songwriting, brutal breakdowns and crazy circlepit parts. On top of it is the thick production giving those songs clear, but still aggressive sound. The riffs are devastating but they do find time for some clear and rounded parts , retaining the sense of melody now and there. The band seem determined to prove that even though they’re known for their serious straight edge stance, they’re not monothematic when it comes to the lyrics. Of course, SxE lifestyle is still on the agenda, but they also touch such topics as child abuse or hardcore being a place where sense of unity and brotherhood is still more important than your new kicks or haircut. In my opinion Confront is their strongest work to date and my only beef with this record is that it’s so short. Only 5 songs leaves you wanting more but it’s still worth to get your hands on this one.

Iceberg

Name: Iceberg

Location: Northern Indiana

Active since: April 08

How do you define your overall style?
Fast paced heavy hardcore

What’s your goal with this band?
Have fun, travel, play music, and release aggression

What do you have recorded so far?
We just finished a 6 song EP and we have an old demo that was recorded when we first started

Please give a brief history of the band, how did it get started.
We all were just sick of the shitty music that was being played around here and we wanted to start a band that we were in to

What are some key elements and influences, both musical and non musical, that have shaped Iceberg to what it is today?
We all grew up listening to punk and hardcore and its been a good outlet for shitty days and frustrations

Who write the lyrics and what do you sing about?
Steve writes most of the lyrics and takes inspiration from built up stress.

What's your label situation? Who you signed to and do they have distribution?
We have been talking to a couple of labels and are kind of waiting to see which one works out

What’s the scene like out there in Indiana at the moment?
I'ts growing a lot more people are getting in to throwing shows and starting bands...for the most part its good...everyone is getting involved and thats what our scene needs right now.

What are your views on the file downloading? Is it destroying the scene or is it a tool to help upcoming bands blow?
It helps people get their music out and to us thats what hardcore is about just getting your message out and not trying to profit

How are you finding the Myspace hype? Love it or hate it?
It helps with shows and its easier for people to discover us outside of our local scene

With bands like Hatebreed getting the major recognition, are media in USA interested in hardcore?
Are there any radio stations in your area that are supporting this type of music? No we feel its still more underground and that the majority of the people dont want to hear the truth about life. No radio stations support our music in this area.

What’s the worst fashion you have ever witnessed at a show?
We are not really worried about how people are dressed as long as they are there for the right reasons and to help build our scene.

Of all the places you played, which do you think has got the best moshers?
Its all about the hoosier hardstyle haha.

So what's next for Iceberg?
Shows, hang outs, and tyring to get our music out

Any shout-outs or anything you wanna add?
Any given second, nowhere bound, choking on reality, karloff, blood in blood out, after the quarrel, body check, trontor, black teeth, joshy for driving us to all our shows, New Republic Tattoo and anyone else who is supporting us and this music.

Death Before Dishonor new 7"EP coming real soon

Death Before Dishonor and Bridge Nine Records are proud to announce the release of a limited edition 7" EP and digital download titled "Our Glory Days" on June 16th. Featuring two tracks, "Coffin Nail" and "Our Glory Days" (featuring guest vocals from Mark Unseen), from the group's upcoming album, "Better Ways To Die," and an exclusive song only available on this EP, this is the first taste people will get of what Death Before Dishonor is set to unleash July 28th.

"Better Ways To Die" is Death Before Dishonor solidifying their name as one of the front-runners of the Boston hardcore scene worldwide. Somehwere between the harder punk edge of Rancid, the working class anthems of Dropkick Murphys, the hardcore attack of Hatebreed and the precision and fury of Slayer, Better Ways To Die truly is the sound of an American hardcore band that knows their roots and history-and they're not afraid to step beyond that.

The band is gearing up for a worldwide onslaught of touring. Starting in the USA with the 10 for $10 tour-along side Poison the Well, Madball, Terror, Bane, VOD and more. Then off to Europe August 6th and then it will just keep going as always.
