Where did this one come from? I had totally no idea about this band’s existence until I found this CD in my mailbox. The band hails from Helsinki, Finland and its members had previously learnt their licks in bands like Black Betsy, Spoiled Betty, Confusa and Aurinkokerho. I am not even going to pretend I am familiar with those bands so it doesn’t say much to me and I am not gonna try to draw any comparisons. The artwork makes you expect some more crusty type of sound, but surprisingly there’s a lot of groove in here. After the short medium-paced intro which blasts with double bass and heavy ass guitar work, the first song, Feikki, kicks in and it turns out MORA is as hardcore as it can be.Posted: 5/08/2012

True Hearted hails from San Jose, Cali and delivers straight down the line NYHC sound with tight mosh parts and slick delivery. The drums sound kinda odd, I think they're programmed but I can't be sure. But it's nothing that would bother me that much and they got a real drummer now anyway. Overall, it's pretty solid demo and True Hearted has a lot of potential if they continue to write better songs. Just like the Vice Grip, a song the band has just recently released. This one is taken from the upcoming EP, it can be heard here and it's pretty sick. But until this new EP is out, check out their older material as well. Download it!

Marked For Death has added new Anguish album to their webstore. The New Jersey-based band "delivers some heavy and pissed off metallic hardcore in the vein of bands like Lifeless, old Hatebreed, Shattered realm and Harms way. After their debut Ep called 'Badlands' the band took the next step to release one of the hardest mosh records in 2012." There's also For My Enemy vs. Beg For Life split. After their debut record on MFD called 'Dark days', For My Enemy are back with some new 90ies metalcore influenced tunes. Similar to bands like Arkangel, All out war or Congress. And last but not least Beg For Life from Yuma, Arizona are finally back with some new songs! After their release on Westcoast Worldwide this powerhouse is back with a vengeance. Beg For Life combines the best parts of metal and hardcore. For fans of All out war, CDC and Line of scrimmage.

Mare Miseria is the much anticipated follow up release to 2009’s critically acclaimed “Doomed”, and is the band’s first recording with new vocalist Steven Jimenez. The recording duties were handled by producer/engineer Chris Hopkins at Earthbound Recordings in Chula Vista California.Posted: 5/05/2012
One of the coolest bands around has unfortunately came to an end. Official statement from Arrest Records website: "Word For Word is coming to an end. We’ll be playing two, possibly three last shows. Our last Manchester show will be at Mad Bob’s Saloon Saturday June 9th and our very last show will be at Anchors Up Saturday August 25th. I once thought that it would be better to not have a last show and just pick up and play whenever, but when you only play shows in the same area and don’t write new material it’s just not the same. So instead of letting the band go stagnant we’d rather go out on a high note. Word For Word is very important to me. I’ve gotten to meet some amazing people through the band. We were lucky enough to get to go on 3 10 day tours (vacations) all of which resulted in me having a nervous breakdown. I’d like to thank Alex from Yellow Stitches/Ignorance for basically singlehandedly making the first two possible and coming along for the last; Josh Hynes for always hooking us up with great shows and filling in for us; Angry Al for doing ALL of our album artwork; Lumpy for putting together all our layouts and other design work. Thanks for everything to anybody who ever cared about this band, booked us and put out our music. Nothing has been more flattering then seeing people with Word For Word tattoos and homemade merch. Everyone of us has a side project now. Brandon and Nate both play in Yellow Stitches and will soon be dropping their debut full length “Good Times,Violent Crimes LP” on Brass City Boss Sounds. Pete and I have started a straight edge hardcore band called Freedom 35 that should be ready to start playing shows this summer."

Lose The Life posted new song, Authority Stomper, on their bandcamp account. The song has a strong political message to it and deals with police but from the anti-capitalist perspective. Here's what band got to say about it: "Ah, there's nothing like a song about hating the police! Many punks and hardcore kids can relate to lyrics about getting into trouble with the law. But we would like to raise the criticism to another level. The police as an institution are only made necessary in a society divided between those who have and those who don’t. The law is written to ensure the power of the already wealthy. Thus, the police are nothing but the henchmen of our real enemy: capitalist society." The song is taken from the upcoming album, 'The End of Conformity', which is due to be released on Ugly And Proud Records.

[Official press release] One must be insane to start a new record label in these days of ever decreasing music sales. Two guys who were there from the very beginning just pulled it off! Onno Cro-Mag and Roger Miret (Agnostic Front) were brought together by the love for hardcore and punkrock 25 years ago. After teaming up on the successful “Worldwide Tribute To The Real Oi!” albums they had a dream of starting a new record label together. Here we are in 2012 and the dream has become reality. Strength Records stands for honesty, dignity and friendship. It will go back to the times when hardcore and punk was pure and without bullshit. Back to the roots and basics of the scene and is bound to become a family for bands out of all genres.Posted: 4/12/2012
As a general rule, every hardcore band that got at least one member with tattoos on his head is bond to get a good review on this website. Luckily, No One Is Safe’s music would hold its own even if they were bunch of skinny jeans-wearing hipsters. But they’re totally not. On both musical and lyrical side, the album boils over with pride, anger and testosterone. Even though the production is quite slick, everything is raw and uncompromising as it should. From the fast parts to breakdowns, everything seems to be in the right place.Posted: 4/12/2012

9th Step is a relatively young band out of Salem, Oregon that brings straight in your face music which draws as much from the roughest classic hardcore sound as from the meanest punk rock. So you can hear in their music familiar elements from bands like Agnostic Front or Negative Approach and even Discharge or Last Resort. Even if they are not at the level of any of those bands yet, they still go hard tho. I hope every one of you has checked their demo which we recently uploaded, Tear Me Down track is a banger plus you get ACAB cover as a bonus.First off, tell us something about 9th Step. Who is who in the band and how long you've been around?

Lisbon’s Reality Slap goes straight for the throat with their second studio effort, “Necks & Ropes”, which has been just recently released by Hell Xis. The raging album boosts 22 minutes of early and blood curling hardcore that relights the flame and burning spirit lay down by classic acts like Cro Mags, Agnostic Front, Madball and Terror. It’s a full-on assault full of heavy and hard-hitting riffs, fist-pumping and thundering. The features include: Winston Mcall (Parkway Drive), Justice Tripp (Trapped Under Ice), Mike Ghost (Men Eater) and Poli (Devil in Me).

For those unfamiliar, One Choice members have did their time in other prominent SoCal bands like Time For Change, Collision, Built To Last and Her Grey Earth. After debut Ep which came out at New Age records, this is their debut full length release. By the middle of the first track, the expectations from the rest of the album are set high. After short intro, Forever War sets things off with a damn catchy hook and hell of a chorus.Posted: 4/10/2012

The Swedish band has been around since 2008 but it was last year when it dropped its debut album, ‘Trapped In Lies’, on World vs Cometh records. Bitter Taste Of Life’s influences are pretty broad, you can hear some modern elements in their music, but they have a firm foothold in more traditional sound as well. They have a tour all across Europe, from Portugal to Poland, planned for May so make sure you show them support when they come to your area. The interview was done some time ago but for various different reasons is being published just now so please excuse if any questions seem to be outdated. It’s still a good read though, and the band is definitely worth checking out!Let us know some basic info about Bitter Taste Of Life? How and when it all started, who’s in the band etc...
Lyrically, is there any concept to the album? Can you touch on some of the lyrical focuses of your songs?

Good hardcore doesn’t have to be too fancy. All it takes is substance, sharp delivery and some hard-hitting lyrics. And that’s what Ghost Ship delivers with its debut release. Cold Truth contain all the necessary elements that make a solid hardcore album, from raging guitars to seriously pissed off vocalist to insane breakdowns, all executed with a vivid flow and passion. The album’s sound is loosely possessed of the early Hatebreed or Throwdown but for the most part they keep it pretty fresh and avoid clichés. With no unnecessary tricks, distractions and experiments, I guess it’s the realness and commitment felt in those songs which are essential to what makes it work as a whole. Posted: 4/04/2012
