Download: New World - Demo 2013

Heavy, but slick hardcore from this Southern California band. Don't know much about the New World, but it seems to be band's debut release. What you get is intro plus five tracks of intense hardcore that have a right balance between heavy grooves and faster parts. Traditional hardcore vocals are solid and work fine with the music. Southern Rush is my fav track, mostly due to powerful heavy groove and overall energy it has. Overall, some of these songs are real badass and I hope to hear this stuff recorded with better quality. Download it!

Awesome new releases from Take It Back Records

Take It Back Records has announced couple of exciting news. All Over LP by Kids Insane is out now. The band hails from Tel Aviv, Israel, and "play an insane mix of angry, yet melodic punk-rock (think Small Brown Bike) and modern hardcore (think American Nightmare, Modern Life Is War, Verse, and Refused). Originally released as a CD-only album on Third Time Lucky Records, this album is now released on vinyl for the first time in co-operation by You're Next Records, Crapoulet Records, Derrick Hunter Records, and Take It Back." 100 copies of this awesome album, 80 on multi-colored splatter vinyl and 20 on black, are available. Deadverse is an upcoming release which should be out soon. "'Carpet Burns' has been on heavy rotation at the TAKE IT BACK HQ for weeks. These songs are even better that "Caution To The Wind". Again co-released with Adagio830. Hopefully out in May." The label will also release new self-titled 7" by Reality Returns, members of Coldburn and Teamkiller new band. "Heavy straight edge hardcore with an agenda."

Video: Reign Supreme - Stuck Pig, Bled Dry

Reign Supreme has posted new video for Stuck Pig, Bled Dry off of band's latest ep, Sky Burial. What hits me the most is how heavier and more metal sound it has compared to their old recordings. I don't really think it's a change for better. If history of bands like Throwdown has taught us anything, is that you don't fuck with metal sound if your hardcore sound is cool enough. But... judge for yourself.

Review: Hammerfist - Isolation

This new mcd by Hammerfist is five tracks strong and each one hits hard with focus and intensity. Staying true to their hardcore roots, most of the tracks come and go in a less than two minutes, but there’s enough talent and good ideas here to keep things varied. From the very beginning you get a sense that the band put a lot of effort into song writing, as all the tracks are well structured and keep the right balance between being engaging and aggressive.

Download: Overpain - Underrated Overhated

Overpain hails from Salonika City, Greece and plays brutal and heavy hardcore that fans of Fury Of V, Out To Win or Knuckledust should dig. The band is at their best during the faster and more dynamic songs, but fans of breakdowns shouldn't be dissapointed neither. The one impressing feature of the album is a long list of guest features. Dudes like Olle and Rickard from Bitter Taste Of Life, Jon from Warhound, Jake from Hammerfist or Gerardo from No Zodiac lend vocals on couple of the songs. Actually, the list is even longer but you get the picture. I have no clue how managed to get all those people involved, but it works for album's advantage in my opinion. Props to the band for letting everyone download the album for free. Download it!

Emanuel Newton kicks Nazi ass at Strife show

Some people never learn but maybe some ass-kicking will put some sense into their heads. Some nazi morons fucked with the wrong man at a Strife show and got served real bad. Here's how Emmanuel Newton recalls the whole situation during an interview for Sherdog.com: “I went to this show -- it wasn’t a hardcore show by any means, but maybe some of the older guys would consider it to be hardcore. Strife, in my opinion, was really the only true hardcore band on this show. I guess those skinheads kind of frequent that place. I haven’t seen skinheads at a hardcore show since, like, 2001. I saw them, and I was like, ‘Great,’ but there were also a lot of hardcore kids who were there to see Strife, and we definitely outnumbered the skinheads.”

“The pit had just started, and I could really tell that they were checking us out. I started circle-pitting, and a guy tried to trip me. I turned and looked, and I knew it was a white power guy. One guy had ‘white power’ tattooed on the back of his head. I went over to my friends and told them to keep their eyes open.”

“After I warned my boys, one of those guys came up and just blatantly took a swing at me. I saw it coming, of course, so I slipped it and threw a punch that dropped him and put him out. [His friends] then started jumping in. I think one of them shot a double-leg on me, and I was up against the stage. Then some white power girl came up and started swinging at me. I just tucked my chin, put my head down and said, ‘Go ahead and punch me in my forehead and the top of my head all you want. You’re just going to have a broken hand in the morning.’ “All my buddies jumped in, and they just demolished the guys. I didn’t have to do anything more, because all my boys either train MMA or they fight, too. So they came in and just smashed the guys.”

RoughneckMedia: Still Ill live footage

Roughneck Media Showcase is one of the coolest youtube channels to follow. They got tons of great live footage from bands like Terror, No Turning Back, Desolated, Survival and much more. Always except great image and sound quality from these dudes, and most of the shows are shoot with multiple cameras. I could post links to my fav videos by them, but just go to their channel profile and check which vids are most interesting to you. Still Ill footage from band's CD release show is the last stuff they posted, that's why it's here.

The band will be touring with Hounds Of Hate this summer.

Download: Sabotage - Demo II

Violent and chaotic hardcore with a dirty sound and disorted vocals. Some fucked up tunes, if you ask me, but it has some appeal. It's fast, but also got some cool breakdowns. Not the music I usually dig, but it's not bad. If you like it, you can order tape from Climbin' Aboard Records. Tape artwork is brilliant, worth having on your shelf. Download it!

The Last Stand - The Time Is Now

This is the shit right here. Dudes from Inhuman and Shutdown are back with new band and it rips. Armed with Mike’s distinct voice and group of guys who obviously know how to play hardcore, there’s enough talent and dedication here to make everyone excited. No surprisingly, there’s definitely a classic NYHC vibe here and the band definitely nailed down the anger and intensity of the genre. Perhaps, a good mixture of Built To Last’s vitality and Start Today’s positive vibe, with a dose of Age of Quarrel’s aggressive tone is a good way of summing up this album. It’s catchy, upbeat, and perfectly blends punk rock with hardcore to bring back the street element of the music.

Download: Cross Me - Demo 2013

Milwaukee's Cross Me brings thrash-ridden type of hardcore with solid grooves and manacing riffs. I’m getting some Expire meets Suicidal Tendencies sound on these tracks. Serious business and no frills. The vocals are seriously pissed off and sound like the guys wants fuck someone up good. Expect to hear news of them signing to one of your favorite hardcore labels sometime soon. Download it!

New Blood: Hollow Truth

Hollow Truth from Dublin brings all the good elements of thrash and hardcore, which results in nothing but a crushing crossover sound that brings to mind a mix of Cro-Mags and Metallica. I have recently posted their demo and judging by the number of downloads, kids dig this stuff. So, check out the interview with the dudes while listening to the demo. And if they’re ever playing show in your area, make sure you show your support!

Video: Price to Pay - Step Up Stand Down

Price to Pay's new video. The song is taken from their debut record available for free download here.

Download: Brainwreck - Words to the Wise

One of the few bands from South Africa I know. Not as good as Bloodline Ltd, but pretty rad anyway. Because of the Fury Of V song, I was expecting something heavier, but it actually has more traditional sound. 3 tracks, all of them no longer than 2:30, most of the time groovy. The music reminds me of No Turning Back, though it never really gets too fast. All in all, hardcore comes from many places and it's good to keep that worldwide unity thing alive. Plus, Brainwreck got a killer band name and are good at their craft! Download!

Download: Concrete Dog - Demo 2013

Rough and antisocial hardcore/punk from Poland. Bad english, no skills and awful sound quality make it a real gem. Plus, you get heartfelt lyrics about kicking scene wise-asses right in the teeth, the urge to kill and about some dude who's acting normal but he keeps immigrants and sex slaves in his house. It's so good I wanna punch random people in the face. Download!

Review: Kickback - Et Le Diable Rit Avec Nous

Musically they are untouchable and, straight off the bat, this is an excellent release. Et Le Diable Rit Avec Nous features plenty of band’s signatures, but it’s nonetheless step forward. Kickback has always been a band that challenged itself to reinvent its sound more and more with each album. As their style expanded from one based on metallic NYHC vibe to explore more experimental regions, they have never lost the aggression and fury. The band has definitely managed to create its distinct sound, easily distinguished from other bands.

Life After Death posted new ep at their bandcamp. The ep goes for $5 and the money goes to good cause: "Recently, we had a few friends get in trouble with the law and hit some dire straits. As in any situation involving the law, much of it is bullshit. We recorded these songs last year and felt that now is the time to release them, with the hopes that we can help out some homies in the process. Any and all proceeds from this release will go to assist with bail, court fees and all the other assorted nonsense the man tries to bring a nigga's way. If you feel inclined, download the tracks and help out some brothers in need of help." Don't be greedy!

Hammerfist Interview

If you follow this blog you’re probably familiar with Hammerfist as they already been featured here couple of times. I caught up with them again as their new album called Isolation has just hit the streets. The album, put out by Ghost Town Records, brings five tracks of that heavy aggressive shit the band is known for. After couple of listens I have to admit it’s probably the best stuff they ever recorded. Make sure you check it out! And see what they got to say about the new songs, the scene in Cali and other more serious topics.
