Icepick's Goldrush to get vinyl treatment

Street Survival Records will release a classic album Goldrush (2005) and demo tape by Dutch Icepick on a 12 inch vinyl. Fans of Cro-Mags or Icemen should be on the look out. The band is supposedly working on new album.

Forgotten Classics: Self Decay

Late 90’, upstate New York, Time Served Records - yeah, it's exactly that kind of hardcore music. You can do that style poorly or you can do it right, and these guys knew how to do it right.Heavy and rugged, simple and straight-forward, this is some classic material from this forgotten upstate New York band. Self Decay started in 1996/1997 (I’m not sure exactly) and Beneath The Lies seems to be their only release. The band featured Rigg Ross, who went on to play with Hatebreed and subsequently joined a slew of NYHC bands like Madball, Skarhead or Rag Men. He did a wonderful stuff on this album so I totally understand why he ended up playing on NYHC ep.

Review: Raw Justice - We don't need your friends

Raw Justice - We don't need your friends (Straight & Alert, Ugly & Proud records, Life To Live) - If you’re into bands like Floorpunch, Ten Yard Fight, No Tolerance or The Rival Mob, that’s your shit right here. It’s as fast and pissed off just as it should be, Raw Justice stick to the pure hardcore formula and keeps it simple, aggressive and fast. The vocalist Alex’s delivery is on point and the band can hold their own musically. The result is an ep that many hardcore kids can feel.

Video: Concrete - Fair Warning

Concrete dropped this one back in December, pretty cool example how live video should look like. Albany hardcore in your face!

New Blood: Wilful Damage

Here's an interview with Hayden, vocalist of Brisbane, Australia-based band Wilful Damage. Check out their debut demo (link below) if you're into tough and hard-hitting hardcore. Ffo: Hatebreed, Death Before Dishonor, Terror...

Hammer of the Witch

Most of you probably know that Ringworm will be dropping new album on Relapse Records called 'Hammer of the Witch'. The title track has been streaming for couple of days already but its so good I gonna share it in case any of you have slept on it. What can I say, the band is sounding on point as usual and I expect the album to be as great as everything they have done so far. It's no surprise the track is sounding metal as fuck, but the core elements are still there so we're good. Another song, Bleed, to be found here. Expect the album to drop in March.

New album from Darkside NYC

Darkside NYC will be dropping new album Optimism Is Self Deception Vol. 1 & 2. With track titles like Kill All The New Jacks or Drink To Have a Good Time it seems they haven't lost it - I expect nothing but some seriously fucked up, antisocial and violent content from this record. You can pre-order a copy at their webstore (click here), and while you there cop the Ambitions Make Way for Dread if you don't have it yet - shit is classic!

Rat Path Interview

Rat Path represents Seattle and their latest release Mean Streets ep is filled with crushing hardcore laced with thrash heaviness. This style has been kind of popular lately and done many times with more or less success, but Rat Path still managed to pull this one off. The band claims to be influenced by likes of Life of Agony, Cro Mags and Slayer and it seems they did their homework cause the ep hits all the right notes. Tracks like Fools Fortune and Trip Hard are massive ear grabbers, check out their bandcamp if you don't believe me. Here's the interview with the band done via e-mail.

Review: Bleak Reality - Burden Of Shame

Bleak Reality - Burden Of Shame
(Anger Battery Records) - Burden is a debut ep by this Nottingham,UK-based band. It came out at the beginning of 2013, but I never really had a time to review it. The band plays heavy and malicious hardcore with a hard-as-nails metallic twist. The UK scene has spawned out many great bands in recent times, but this one definitely stands out.

Die Young - Chosen Path 12" EP pre-orders up now!

Ugly and Proud Records will be releasing the European version of the upcoming LP by Die Young (Texas). This version will be on a one sided 12" EP (while the US version is on 7") with an etched B side (the famous Die Young clock/logo skull will be engraved on the whole B side). Sounds pretty dope! The track list might be also little bit different. Three different colors are planned, 500 units in total. You can pre-order the record here.

Check out the the title track here:

HB Radio #15

This time I broke down the tracklist into several segments, I hope it makes it more interesting for you. Check out Life To Live part - basically, everything LTL dudes put out is of top quality and done with 100% respect to the true underground hardcore spirit. Provider, Cold Hearted and Violence To Fade have dropped some marvelous albums via this label.

Open it in a pop-up window for more convenience.

Video: City To City - War Made Easy

New clip by City To City for War Made Easy, which talks about how much green is to be made from world's conflicts and wars. It's a truly dog eat dog world.

Inner Self Interview

It seems like every band from Brazil I hear nowadays is harder than the next one. The scene over there seems to be going really strong and those kids seem to be totally into the just right type of hardcore - hard and in your face. Inner Self falls into this trend and is another band from over there worth checking out. They recently dropped Bringing The Rage Back which is a beast of a record - heavy, fast and reckless hardcore fronted by hard-as-nails vocals. Bands like this one shouldn't go unnoticed so here's an interview with Athos (vocals).

Review: Redemption Denied - Nothing Remains

Redemption Denied - Nothing Remains
(Control Records/Reality Records) - I'm feelin' this one! These tracks sound just like a modernized version of something off of one of early Merauder or Hatebreed albums, which is dope. Nothing Remains is a short but nasty listen that cuts to the bone with 4 tracks of gritty, 90s influenced metallic hardcore.

New video for We Never Left taken from the Helsinki veterans' self released 'True Colors' LP. That album was definitely one of the dopest releases of 2013, check it out if you haven't already. The video itself is very nice. Mix some live action with crew posing ad this is how hardcore video should look like.

Ratel Recs to release King Nine's 'Scarred To Death'

Ratel Records will release King Nine's Scarred To Death album in early 2014. This one definitely gets a stamp of approval from me cause King Nine seems to rep everything that is legit about hardcore nowadays.

Thanks to Mass Movement Records we are now taking preorders for the European pressing of KING NINE’s debut LP “Scared to Death”. There are only 150 copies of this vinyl all on black color out of which first 60 ordered comes with additional cover and are hand numbered. For The Glory full live set

15-minute set from this legit Portuguese band. Support Euro hardcore!

My Gut Reaction: Piece By Piece - Primitive As Fuck

If you know Piece By Piece you know there’s no going wrong with this album. Hard-hitting tracks and anti-social lyricism is everything I want from my hardcore, but this one takes it straight to the next level. Piece By Piece is on some demented shit with track titles like I Fuck You, Primitive As Fuck and Let’s Fuck. The ep is fast, attack-heavy burst of in your face hardcore most of the time, but there are some cool breakdowns or melodic parts as well. The guitar work is awesome and the vocals rip. Very dope record. Don't sleep on it!

Standout tracks: You're The Enemy, I Just Wanna Be Crazy, Let's Fuck

HB Radio #14

This time tracklist includes Ractions, Valiant, Free World, Judgement Day, Violence To Fade, State Of Mind, Solid Snake and more. Check out Has Been (Battery) cover done by Energy.

Ratel Recs sampler for free!

Here's a collection of tracks from various Ratel releases to start 2014 with a bang. These dudes have put out some incredible records last year, just to mention Reality Check / Dig split, Bloodstained / Length Of Time split, new Desperate Times, new Last Dayz, as well as their split with Cornered. If you've slept on those, here's a chance to catch up.

Grim Interview

The Seeds of Love, a new ep by Grim, is some nasty and vicious piece of wax. If you're into hardcore that is heavy but not devoid of emotions, it's your stuff right here. I dig this ep cause beside the fact that the band goes hard from start to finish, there's some depth to it as well. Like, it can let you connect with your emotional side without making you feel like a pussy. I respect that. Here's an interview with Kristof who does the vocal duties for the band.

Video: Look My Way - Protect What's Mine

The contribution from Jeremy of Lifeless fame, even if very short, has made this track highly enjoyable.

RoughneckMedia: Footage from Pitfest 2012

RoughneckMedia have posted vids from Pitfest that took place earlier this December in Aachen, Germany. These dudes are always doing a top notch job and amazing vid and sound quality is guaranteed. Dogchains, Demonwomb, World Eater and Intense are already up and online.

On the edge of...

Taut - On the edge of...

It’s time to give props to my local scene. East of Europe is no joke! This one was posted to bandcamp earlier this year but it’s just lately that I had checked it out.

Taut was a short lived band from east of Poland and this is remastered version of their first and only demo that came out in 2009. The first version was rough sounding at times, but the energy was definitely there. On this one, the beefier production makes this band sound even more pissed off and powerful.

Their style was NYHC-inspired with some hints of thrash in the heavier parts. It comes in like combination of Madball and Bitter End, you get the deal. Tough, street-smart hardcore that is hitting as hard as possible. But despite band’s focus on staying aggressive all the time, the tracks are well formed and complex.

Anyway, I advise everyone to give it a try - I suppose the band was not very popular outside Poland so it might be something new for most of you.

Upperhand Interview

Upperhand is a hardcore band from Richmond that got awesome Chains Of Shame 7" out on Mind Rot Records. They play solid NYHC-inspired hardcore with enough fat riffs and tight grooves to make me wanna wild out and do stupid shit. The pissed off, harsh vocals only make this stuff more powerful. Check it out if you're into Madball, Naysayer and Terror!

New Seconds of Peace tracks

My people from Seconds of Peace have posted two new tracks to get you ready for the upcoming ep Hangin' to the Tunes of Doom. Let me just say that they really progressed since the demo and this shit sounds tight and on point. The ep should be out in January if everything goes as planned.

Check out the interview I did with the band some time ago: CLICK HERE.

Video: Judgement Day - Existence

American Straight Edge! Judgement Day from Southern California with members of Isolation AD. You can get their two-song ep from: judgementxday.bandcamp.com

New Blood: Bad Attitude

Bad Attitude is a new band from Leeuwarden (Netherlands) area with members of Cornered, Pantah and 0fight8 with a mission to go back in time with their sound. Their first demo is filled with raging, in your face hardcore that kids in 80' and early 90' used to mosh to. If you dig this style, check this out!

Ad Of The Day: None Of The Above Recs

Review: Clerview / Paura - Rage Through Integrity

Clerview/Paura - Rage Through Integrity (Caustic Records / HeartsBleedBlue)- Wow, this one packs a punch! Clearview’s delivery sounds tighter than ever. Musically, it’s all about furious riffs, heavy breaks, and thumping drums. They ain't afraid to wear their influences on their sleeve, but still it sounds honest and genuine. The production is beefy but sharp, with every instrument sounding crisp and clear.

New Blood: Miss My Chance

Miss My Chance is a new blood from Long Island, NY. They caught my attention when they dropped If & When ep earlier this year. It's just two tracks but they both rip with anger and a vicious delivery. Hard vocals over powerful riffs and tight drums is a no-brainer, but this band managed to pull this one off. Show these dudes some support, check out the interview.

Video: Deadly Visions - The Blind Leading The Lost

New Deadly Visions video. The track is to get you stoked for the upcoming "Sydneys Wasted Youth" compilation due out early 2014.

Video: Reason Enough - F*ck Mercy

New visuals from Reason Enough is pretty dope with the whole posse proudly displaying ignorant and antisocial attitude. Can't help to appreciate the subtle Do Or Die feeling in this video. The track itself goes hard as well. Glad to see this band active again.

Assorted News: Intense, True Hearted, Burn Infinite...

Neutral Words Records is running pre-orders for 'More to Say' ep by Germany's Intense. The entire ep is streaming here. The ep is a collabo with HardCoalRecords (GER) who will release it on vinyl this winter.

Demo Daze: Maniac, Werewolf, Piece Keeper

Werewolf - Demo 2013
Brazil hardcore with cool NYHC feeling. Essentially you can think of any of your favourite NYHC bands from the late 80's/early 90's and there's a good chance you'll find strong traces of them in the songs on this demo.
Don't forget the streets!

Lodges - Walking On Hands And Knees 12" is now available from Straight & Alert records.

LODGES started during summer 2013 in Paris, from the ashes of their previous band Donkey Punch. Their sound evolved to something heavier and darker than ever before, somewhere between Catharsis, Lewd Acts, Converge, Cursed or Trap Them.
