Columbus, Ohio hardcore outfit Empire of Rats will release a new album this fall. The outing is self-titled and will hit streets on October 1st via A389 Recordings. Fans of 100 Demons, Hatebreed, and Cold As Life will probably want to investigate.

I recently got a package from Rucktion Recs and been blasting these records for the last couple of days. Bands like Kartel or Crippler are probably either love it or hate it type of hardcore, but I got a soft spot for this sound. I've been lucky to see those dudes live in Poland at their tour with No Turning Back, Redemption Denied, Strength Approach and couple other solid bands. True Valiance hails from UK and this is their new album.The sound of Expect Resistance is heavy with a lot of 100 Demons and All Out War influences as they blend core sound with a lot of metallic riffs. Judging by the cover art and the label behind this release, I was expecting more in your face approach. In reality, the band stray more into metal territory with song structures that are more complex than your average hardcore record.
Kid Armor is a straight edge band from South Orange County that recently dropped Better Days ep to please all the kids into classic hardcore sound. If you dig youth crew and west coast punk rock, this is for you. The interview was done just after the ep was released.
Surge Of Fury / Chains Of Hate - Split (Rucktion) - Brand new split release from Surge of Fury and Chains of Hate and both bands unleash a barrage of quality tracks. Surge Of Fury brings three new tracks plus a crushing cover of District 9’s Live Life. If you’re familiar with band’s previous albums you basically know what to expect here as the band stays committed to their style. The tracks on this split offer the same level of aggression but everything sounds even more tight. The faster parts are relentless and the vicious breakdowns will leave your bones broken.

Heavy Eyes is a hardcore band straight from the mean streets of Budapest. Heavy beats and tight grooves is what you can expect from this release, and the sound quality is dope. For fans of Crown Of Thorns, Turnstile, Second To None and generally all the cool hardcore bands.
Another band repping Hungary to watch out for! Iron Chains has heavier sound, but it's still 100% core. Ffo: Bitter End, 25 Ta Life, Dead End Path. Actually, I am amazed by the quality of bands coming out of Budapest right now!
Chaosrealm is more on the matallic side of things, but it's still dope. The songs have slick thrash feel to them but the delivery is very focused and in your face. It would be dope to hear these tracks with better production.
To The Test is five young dudes from Eastern-Netherlands who have playing together since 2007. Give support to up and coming band, read the interview, check out their video and make sure you go to their show when they play in your area!
Mercyless - Siempre Fuertes (Cruzade Records) - This is the band's second record after Mundo Enfermo which came out in 2012. Just like before, the band delivers heavy metallic hardcore inspired by bands like Hatebreed and Born From Pain. It lacks the finesse of Satisfaction... and is not as crushing as Reclaiming The Crown but it’s ok though, not every album needs to be a classic.

Two bands that I really dig have dropped new music recently. Both play heavier type of hardcore and both definitely rule. Check these heavyweights:
Warbrain is streaming Evil Eyes, which is a news track taken from their upcoming debut album "Void Of Confusion". The band is from Melbourne, Australia and plays heavy metallic hardcore with solid riffs and sick grooves. I expect this new album to be nothing but crushing.
Bleak Reality has dropped new three-track demo out on Atonement Records. On their bandcamp you can listen to one of the new songs called Sleep Tight. The band reps UK scene and is one of the hardest newer bands from out of there.
Cold Hearted - Lunacy (Life To Live) - Life To Live is becoming a powerhouse in hardcore dropping one killer record after another, just to name latest releases by Losin’ It, Provider Step Aside or Outlast. Definitely a label to watch if you’re into legit hardcore music. Their recent addition is Cold Hearted who proudly rep Pensacola, FL scene. There’s a sweet No Warning and Backtrack influence on this ep, with heavy-ass thrashing riffs and fat grooves.
